(Oh yes, Luctan was entirely familiar with that one of several euphemisms for "kill.") If they were partners, Ugru would either betray himself or expose her. Then - well, a man with a plasmer or a stopper set on Three could placidate the best ninja in the Galaxy if it wasn't expecting the attack.

Poof! If "Ugru" and "Yimra" were not partners, the former would be instructed to take his time with the latter. Stretch it out, give her lots of opportunity to babble. Tuke's pickups had no doubt recorded most of what she had said to Kayab, but there would always be holes worth the trouble of filling them in. Luctan did not believe in incomplete data, particularly when methods of completing it promised to be an experience he would remember with pleasure for many years.

Younger Brother Jirish unlocked Kayab's door and held it open for Alanni. She bowed her thanks. She even walked steadily and stood straight until the door closed behind her. Once it had, she went limp as a worm tossed into boiling water. She nearly fell to the floor. As a matter of fact, that would have been fine, if she hadn't wanted a shower so badly.
